A week to go....count down begins

I’ve waited 10 years for this surgery.  Back then, the entire bypass was popular.  I’m not even sure the “sleeve” was a sleeve, or a stapling.  Technology continues to amaze me.
Anyway, I thought about having this surgery a few years ago and never followed through. Either inconvenient or cost too much. Somehow I found a way to not go through with it.  No surprising since it is a process and somewhat scary to think about.  I don’t think I was “ready” mentally.  Although now looking back, I should have done no matter what.
Now I’m 53, been overweight much of my adult life, and I’m scared to death about this new journey.  Not about the surgery itself really but the expectation of the weight and completely changing all mental conditioning about food.  I’ve tried literally every diet on the planet without long term success.  I’m ashamed of myself.  I start doing great – but like all hard things in life, it got too hard and results took forever.  I don’t have much in the way of patience.

I have 8 days to go – it’s kind of surreal.  But I am more ready every day.
