Post Op day 3

I made it!!  I can hardly believe that the surgery is over.

Right after I got to my hospital room, I had 10 one ounce cups of ice chips.  Go girl!  And so it began. It was tough to get all that water in.  The next morning I was given 10 more and 4 "trays" of 10 after that.  Fifty ounces before they'd discharge me home.

It was hard, but I did it.  Once I was home, I didn't have the fluids staff Sargent checking on me ever ten minutes.  OMgosh....I knew this was going to happen but I had no idea how much 50 ounces of fluids really were when your stomach can only so much.  The first day was hard.

Post Io day 3, I took a nice walk and I've gotten in my fluids.

One thing I wasn't expecting was to have to self inject insulin.  My sugars were crazy in the hospital - home I came with syringes and insulin.  I was so depressed over this.  Thankfully I haven't had to inject too many times.  My sugars have been much better than in the hospital.  Not what I expected but certainly something I could learn to handle - and when I start eating shakes and food, sugars will be better.

I'm also three pounds down.  Who knew three pounds would make me so happy?

Forward I go.....
